Bronx rolls under New Leadership
This year is going to be a big change for the Bronx Church basketball team. The team is under new leadership and the team has to find a new identity. Coach James will have to put his style on the team and get the team to play his style of ball. Coach James has been around for a long time. He has four championships under his belt, two in the junior league and two in the senior league, and should do a great job with the team. Coach Hobson will resume his role as assistant coach this year and will have to be Coach James' right hand man. They should work well together. Coach James has inherited a good mix of players. His job will be to get them to play hard every game and be of one accord. Coach James has been sitting and learning for years. He has been head coach in the past. He will be able to get his players to play hard all season.
He has the chance to go further than Coach Roberts did in the last few years. Coach James has improved the frontline of the Hawks. He has brought back center Trevor Romeo. The frontline has been the Bronx weakness over the past few years. They were never able to get that second big man for the frontline. This year they have two big men in Jason Savoy and Trevor Romeo. If Trevor can help Jason control the frontline the Bronx will have an easier season.
The second big piece of the plan is the veteran leaders on the team, Troy Nicholas, Ronald Sibblies and Cecil Lewis Jr. will have to lead the team and not just on the court. They have to be the voice for Coach James with the players. They will make Coach James' life easier if they do as they have done for Coach Roberts. They were the glue that held the team together for Coach Roberts. This is a better team with those three guys anywhere near it.
The last piece of the puzzle is the young guns that cannot be called young anymore. They have all been playing for the team for five years or more now. They have to do their jobs. They have done it in the past and I don't see them doing any differently this year. I cannot wait to see what the rest of this season holds for the Bronx Hawks. Go Hawks.
