Bronx rolls over Christian Fellowship
The Bronx Hawks has not been affected by the coaching change. They have picked up right where they left off. In fact they have gotten better. Coach James has the team flying high and playing at an intense level. That said, this game was supposed to be an easy win for them. Christian Fellowship is in a rebuilding stage and anyone who has been around this league for a while knows that the Bronx team usually eats those kinds of teams for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Bronx had the kind of game that every coach likes. They got to play all three units and all three produced. The first unit went out there and said this game is ours from the tip of the ball. They were right; Christian Fellowship had no answers for the Hawks. The second unit came in and added to what the first unit did and the third unit finished it off.
The honeymoon will be short lived however. Next weekend the Bronx plays the 2-0 Mt. Vernon and that will be a much tougher game for the Bronx. The Bronx will have to bring their A game and not think that this is the same Mt. Vernon team from last year. Mt. Vernon has added some new players and there is a little rivalry brewing between the two teams. Ex Bronx player Steve Johnson is now playing for his home church Mt. Vernon and wants to prove to the Bronx that their 2-0 start is not a fluke. This game will be a bigger test for Mt. Vernon than it will be for the Bronx. The two teams that they have defeated so far are both winless. Mt. Vernon will be the underdog and they will have to prove that they can run with the big dogs. The Bronx does have something to play for however and they will be bringing it to Mt. Vernon. They want that division title back and more important than that, they want that championship trophy back. And they want to let Milo and all the people who pick against them that they better think twice before they count the Bronx Hawks out.
The Bronx has but one goal in their sights. It has been their goal every year since 2004. They came within a hairs breath of it in 2005 when they went to overtime and lost against Mt. of Olives. They want to get that elusive third championship. That's why you see all the hard work they put in every year. This just might be their year again. Look out NCBL family the Hawks are soaring high.
