Week 6 preview

Well it's Week 6 games and for some teams it's the half way point of their season. Some teams took advantage of their soft schedule while others sputtered and gave away games. This is what makes the second half of the season interesting because top teams will face tougher opponents and that should tell you what type of make up each team possess.

You play who is on your schedule and whether its elite teams or not you play to win the game. Excuses are for losers and most cases when a team makes excuses they are attempting to cover their own deficiencies. With that said let's take a look at what Milo thinks for Week 6 games which would be interesting.

Mt. Vernon vs. Hanson Place

Mt Vernon lost last week to their arch rivals Bronx and now they face Hanson Place who last week righted their ship with a win over Kingsboro. Hanson Place has been in this position before where they lost one week and then ran off a bunch of wins. Mt. Vernon however is a different beast because they have the play makers to disrupt most teams.

The problem Hanson Place will face is slowing down teams that like to run. Mt Vernon plays a similar style like the Bronx and that will be some issues for Hanson Place. Hanson Place will have to slow this game down and force Mt. Vernon into a half court game. Mt. Vernon can shot and have the guards that will penetrate so Hanson Place defense will be key this game.
Look for a close game throughout because I don't think Hanson Place pride will allow them to get blown out by 30 points. This game will come down to the wire but I feel Mt. Vernon will hit more foul shots to hold off Hanson Place attack. Mt Vernon wins this match up in a tight battle by 4 points.

Shiloh vs. Central Islip:

Shiloh is perfect this season and for those who say it is luck or a soft schedule that might play a part but if you were to ask their coach and players they would say differently. This team comes to play and plays with a desire that for the first 4 games proved to be good.

Every team need to catch a break here and there but it's the players who have to deliver. Central Islip is playing .500 ball and know they can't over look any team. They have to find their mojo and once they do they can be dangerous.

Shiloh is a blue collar team that scraps and claws for every win. They might not have the flashy players who lights it up every night but they do march to the same drum beat. I look at this game as a pick'em because both teams if on, could win. Shiloh has to control the boards and minimize their mistakes if they are to win. Central Islip has to shoot the ball well and get interior points if they are to hold off Shiloh. This will be a close low scoring game but my gut tells me that Shiloh will find a way to hold off Central Islip and win this game by 2 points.

Fellowship vs. Ebenezer:

This will be the battle of the winless teams. Ebenezer lost their two games to undefeated teams. Fellowship lost their games due to poor execution and holes in their defense. Ebenezer has the better team and their guards can score. Fellowship needs to get balanced scoring from their guards and forwards if they are to be considered a threat.

Ebenezer will be chomping at the bit this game and will realize that they are getting to the rim as easy as Kobe Bryant passing Jerry West as the Lakers scoring king. I expect to see Fellowship battle but Ebenezer will attack and attack and that will be enough for them to defeat Fellowship. Ebenezer wins this match-up in blow out fashion thus moving out the ranks of winless to winners.

GNYC Ebenezer vs. Mt. Sinai:

GNYC lost their first 2 games; Mt Sinai won all 3 of their games and is one of the better teams in this league. GNYC need a win to get their confidence going but they should have their hands full with this team.

Mt. Sinai has a good mixture of guards and forwards and they can shoot and score. GNYC have nice players also but will have to capitalize on every mistake if they are to win this game.
This game will have lots of points and both teams will battle but it's the little things that will determine the outcome of this game. If Mt. Sinai gets to the basket unfazed and finishes like they always seem to do this game can be a blow out.

If GNYC finds their groove and hits some shots then it should be interesting. Look for a close game throughout but I feel the fire power of Mt. Sinai will be too much for GNYC to handle. Mt. Sinai wins this match-up by 8 points proving they are one of the elite teams in the league.

Advent Hope vs. Lighthouse:

Advent Hope lost last week to the defending champs White Plains and man it never seems to get any easier. They face Lighthouse who also lost last week to Linden and now will have to battle to show why they were picked as a top team.

Lighthouse better not sleep on this team because they might be winless but they come to play every game. I definitely give the edge to Lighthouse guards because agent zero will be that much better. But Advent Hope forwards and size will be a problem if they get going. Lighthouse has the better team but they will have to play the entire game this game because Advent Hope will not allow them to ease up.

Advent Hope will give their fans hope but at the end of the game it will be Lighthouse fans and team celebrating. Lighthouse wins this matchup in a closer game than people will realize by 10 points or less.

Kingsboro vs. Bethel:

Kingsboro is winless and would like nothing better than catching a team sleeping. Bethel won their last game against South Brooklyn and did so in their typical fashion "discipline". Now they face a Kingsboro team that haven't found their game yet and will need to play a perfect game if they are to beat Bethel. Coach John knows these games are critical because players tend to play to the level of their competition.

Bethel however will not because they just don't, they have a system that produces and the players have brought into it. Look for a close game the first half but come second half Bethel will show up and defeat Kingsboro by at least 12 points thus moving up in their division.

Well that's Milo picks for Week 6. Players come to play, fans come out and support your teams and let's all enjoy the fellowship with each other. Remember in the game of life like anything else you win some and you lose some but it's your legacy that will last a life time. God Bless.
